Cleveland Can Grow By Sharing With Other Regions
As we pursue becoming one of the Great Regions in the Great Lakes, we learn from the success of others and apply the lessons to propel Greater Cleveland’s continued growth. Our strengths and potential are clear.
Greater Cleveland (the Cleveland-Akron combined statistical area), with 3.7 million people and a $220 billion economy, is the largest region in Ohio, third-largest in the Midwest, and in the Top 20 in the U.S. The region has over 110,000 college students and $3.7 billion in annual research.
Our region is a global leader in manufacturing, materials, health care, and financial services. These sectors anchor a well-diversified economy that includes headquarters for 15 Fortune 1000 firms, globally recognized health and research institutions, and major offices of leading services firms.
We have a rich array of assets that are the envy of many regions, from our world-class arts and cultural organizations and professional sports teams to our parks, rivers, and Lake Erie.
Scale matters to businesses looking at suppliers, customers, and talent, and to individuals looking for jobs, amenities, and diversity. Our challenge at times has been acting as one region and leveraging our strengths and scale to compete and grow.
